Indian Head Massage
60 minutes £ 45
Indian head massage, sometimes known as ‘Champissage’ has always been part of India’s culture and originates from traditional Ayurvedic medicine. It practices the belief that health and wellbeing depend on a delicate balance between the mind, body, and spirit. The head and face are an important focus in this therapy but treatment is effective when the neck, shoulders, upper back, and upper arms are also massaged as these areas are intricately connected to causing tension in the head.
It is particularly good at relieving sinusitis and congestion, tension headaches, migraines, and eye strain. It promotes the growth of strong and healthy hair by loosening the scalp which improves circulation and stimulates the hair follicles, helping hair disorders. The word ‘shampoo’ comes from the Indian name ‘champi’ which derives from Sanskrit meaning to press, knead and soothe. Indian oils are traditionally applied through the hair to nourish it, but this is optional. Clients can wear a massage barn towel wrap and leave lower garments on.
You will feel the gradual release of muscular tension which will calm the nervous system and you will become deeply relaxed. Experience the whole body benefits of this rejuvenating treatment, as you would in an Indian barbershop, but without the haircut!
